Can you imagine if this thing didn’t work out in favor of capital

People get mad when you say that AI is inevitable in the software industry because they still think a better future is possible. How can AI not be inevitable in the software industry, when AI has apparently been inevitable in the “making posters to pin on campus bulletin boards” industry and the “guy on facebook advertising his junk hauling service” industry? And what industry do you think has facilitated that?

There are unresolved questions about its copyright. How do you think those questions will be resolved and can you imagine if those questions didn’t get resolved in favor of capital? Really, our best hope is that the courts will just put the genie back in the bottle and we can all go back to writing programs?

There are unresolved questions about how well it works and how good its output is. Does it matter when no one can write bug-free software anyway (2014).

It doesn’t matter that the AI output is garbage and you’re apparently the only one in the world who feels the emperor has no clothes, because shut up:

Companies don’t want noise; they don’t want to hire people who write multiple hundred-word-plus articles about political hot button issues, or their anger/frustration at previous employers, or any of a number of other topics.

For every person like me with as much as a mild dislike of AI there are ten who don’t and why would I get the job when their views are more innoffensive and capital-friendly

By 2027 or whatever you’ll need to submit a government ID and a piss sample to install apps on your phone. Sorry I misspoke, it’s not “installing apps” anymore, it’s “sideloading”.

Does it even matter. Google’s already made up their mind. We can blog and email and send sternly worded letters all we want but it works fine for Apple anyway.

And there’s no need to install new software anyway when you can prompt the chat box for all your problems. Go on, just ask the chat box anything you want. It’s got all the answers. Go on. Do it.
