Stuff
I see all my stuff on the floor and on my table and feel like a failure. And my drawers and shelves are already full of yet more Stuff so there’s nowhere for it to go.
The drawers are very organized though. This one holds the electronics which I’m keeping and don’t use. This one holds sentimental stuff which I don’t look at or use. This one holds I forgot, because I don’t look at it or use it. It probably holds Stuff
I got rid of some clothes so they would all fit in my dresser and then I got more and they no longer fit. How often do i actually have to dig in my dresser to find something? I use like half of it. The rest of the dresser is another place that holds Stuff
I don’t feel good about getting stuff
On the whole I have enough stuff. I don’t need more stuff
Furry conventions are always sore spots for me because I feel like I’m supposed to be buying dozens of prints and buttons and trinkets and stickers and Stuff from people. I don’t need any of that (obviously) but I don’t want it either. I don’t need to put a picture of the character I like on the wall in order to like them. If I put a poster on the wall will my life meaningfully change or improve. Am I being too utilitarian here
I end up with furry stuff anyway but it ends up in a drawer. (Paradoxically this kinda makes me more eager to hold on to small furry stuff, because if it all ends up in the same drawer which is already allocated to furry ephemera, might as well keep it lol)
drowning in sentimentiality
Cant get rid of that because i have good memories with it and getting rid of it is like forgetting. Wait are they actually good memories or is it just a not-negative memory that happens to be from a long time ago. No I can’t be twelve years old forever. The one movie poster I do have on the wall is from when I saw a movie with him and do I even want to keep that memory?
hoarding
He was sort of a hoarder and we’re digging through his Stuff too. And it’s easy to make fun of him for “why’d he feel like keeping this”. And then I go back to my room and why’d I feel like keeping that.
blank
Im kinda fifteen years late to the minimalism trend. I feel like popularly among young people there’s pushback for “landlord white”/living spaces that are too “sterile” in favor of going back to cluttered spaces full of Stuff, and ok if you don’t want the landlord white i’ll take it. It’ll at least be clean before I fill it up with Stuff
